Sports Summary

The rugby teams had a positive week with good cup wins for the 1st XV against St John Fishers and the under 15s sealing a three point victory against Harrogate Grammar in a thriller.

At the weekend we played Birkdale and took the honours at under 14 and under 13 ages. Well done to all involved as we had another high proportion of our students playing in year 7 and 8.

The girls had a fantastic weekend. We have been on the end of some real hammering from the Hymers teams in the past decade. Saturday showed just how far we have progressed.

There were some fantastic spells of hockey played by both senior squads, which finished as very narrow and unfortunate defeats. Ashville 1st XI took on a very confident Hymers side who were victorious over Ashville last year 5-0. This weekend saw Ashville being the dominant side and very unlucky not to take something away from the game after numerous short corners and hitting the post. The togetherness displayed by the team was phenomenal. While the Player of the Match vote was hard to decide, as all girls contributed amazingly, it had to go to Lily Buchan who worked superbly in defence and improved on her delivery to the midfield players.

Great 2-0 win for the U15 and 1-1 draw for the U14 girls.

Well done to each and every one of you this weekend!
